Autumn In New Brunswick
04:14
|
|||
At the end of the day
sun light is fading fast
and we're on our way
another damn tank of gas
Long empty roads
the tree lines play cold refrains
my passenger seat
Warm, torn and coffee stains
A sad slide guitar
moans on the radio
a pastoral scene
scored by blue rodeo
a smalll masterpiece
it's only now that you see
If I were to look past my cool mask I would agree
I think we spend our last night in Montreal
My eyes are heavy, I hear sleeps whispered call
The breeze sheds leaves from trees with ease in fall
Quietly leads us to Fredericton Sackville or Moncton
At the end of the day
the sunlight is fading fast
We’re on our way
Another damn tank of gas

The Tourists
04:38
|
|||
Me and my friends went to New York
we spent a weekend in Bushwick
The price was kinda steep, but oh well, we're in New York
On the first day we saw a cockroach
jumped up and scurried across the hardwood
and we all kinda laughed and said oh well, we're in New York
We saw a rat down in the subway
it looked up at my with indifference
as if to say, what's your problem? You're in new York.
The rat got off at 23rd street
we stayed on until Rockerfeller
The people pushed, said get out of the way, you're in New York
On a worn out bench
I stop to take in the racket
Until a lit cigarette,
burned a hole in my jacket
We brought home bedbugs from New York
we got a message from Lauren who said
she had bites up and down, she could barely close her left hand
I found a couple in my queen bed
they were hopping around, they were laughing in my face
after I crushed them and flushed them i said “Go back to New York”....
I’ve all my regrets
And I may find Solutions
In these tall silhouettes
And noise pollution

I was hoping to ask you out
To see what your plans are Saturday
I know there's a thing downtown
We could get food along the way
I’m trying to think about
Ways I can help, what I can do
I'm planning to make some signs
I could make one just for you
To be young, in love at the end of the world
My parents don’t give me time
My father dismisses all my plans
They tell me that life ain’t fair
And when I get older I’ll understand
To be young, in love at the end of the world

You're Lonely, Too
04:20
|
|||
I found myself on a dusty trail
in the company of a nightengale
I squinted hard and held my head
opened my eyes I was still in bed
Mouth it tastes like last nights beer
I don’t remember getting here
Someone please come rescue me
Called you up, are you alright?
You said you had a restless night
The room would spin when you closed your eyes
lipstick smeared last night's disguise
sunlight shines on your throbbing face
you wish you didn’t have to leave you place
someone please come rescue you
I need to ease my hunger pains
caffeinate my tired veines
shoes untied and my hair’s a mess
stained shirt hiding underneath my vest
Coffee shop is across the street
but I hate the world and I hate the heat
but I think I’ll buy a cup for you
I’m lonely too, just like you.

Distortions
03:00
|
|||
Scrolling through my feeds
I see a distorted reflection
well placed good intentions
I see the man I could be
From when I raise my head
I'm looking for validation
somewhere to put my frustrations
but that's not who you will see
The day is passing by,
my world is shaped through a prism
of hand held religion
I’ll fall asleep at the pew
If I looked inside
Could I see through distractions
Could I gauge my reactions?
If for a minute or two
There's a rock-umentary on TV
These metal gods have lost control
the Drummer is screaming
The singer is missing
When will the get to rock & roll?
While staring at these hardened faces
I think I see a bit of me
without the money
without the memories
without the popularity
But what was I saying?

Mouse Not The Man
04:19
|
|||
The mouse walked underfoot,
I watched in slow motion
Would the man notice?
Would he jump out the way?
would he shriek like some cartoon?
a long forgotten trope.
An old faded memory
Of a cat and kangaroo
I’ve never lost someone too close to me
Who wasn’t near ancient
So my emotions
Wait like torpedos, lodged below my heart
The man stopped and turned
The mouse writhed in the cold
He’d soon meet his maker
The man would soon forget
But I just couldn’t shake
This confluence of fate
That left me distressing
On the way to the bank
I’ve had problems understanding strong men
They mask their emotions
Behind obligations.
Could I sing tributes
to dead heroes without losing my cool?
Did I meet his love in the past?
(The mouse, not the man)
When she looked with indifference, as if to say…
“We’ve all got our problems pal
We all have to make the next train”
I’m the mouse not the man.

Anxiety
05:55
|
|||
I’m usually a happy man
With a loving heart and a steady hand
But some times when the days get grey
And I’m all alone, I want to slip away
I can hide behind an old guitar
And some fancy chords, it won’t take me far
And I can hide behind a microphone
When all I want to do is be alone
I wanna be alone
I’ll be a well of constant gladness, shield my eyes from fear or sadness
Take a deep breath, a slow release
And the stomach pains, soon will cease
(oh they’ll probably cease)

Gros Morne
03:02
|
|||
As the sun shines on the mountains of Gros Morne
and the fog lifts from the sea
I am waking from a dream about your arms
the only place I'd rather be
Pipers sing from coastal ponds around Gros Morne
a fall migration; leisurely
And though my body now, must go
I know my heart shall never leave
